Real talk today, sometimes I make some really dumb decisions.
Like when I selected a train for my wedding dress that attached with a huge three foot bow right on my ass. Or I got my bachelor’s degree from an unaccredited university. Or I let a lady at a mall kiosk talk me into a manicure set that cost $100 when I was already struggling to pay bills and didn’t even have any nails to speak of.
So I’m seeking advice for something that’s a result of yet another bad decision. I furnished my apartment with all dark colored furniture when my cat and a dog are both yellow-haired and shed like crazy.
Seriously?!?!? I don’t know what I was thinking. I clean my house every weekend, but that’s not often enough to keep up. The couch has so much pet hair halfway through the week, I don’t even like to sit on it. I’ll clean off a small area or I’ll cover it with a throw. It’s frustrating and embarrassing.
I’ve tried a couple of options with no success. My vacuum has a special attachment just for pet hair. I have to exert so much pressure on the extension just to get it to pick up even the tiniest amount of hair that I never use it. I also bought those gloves they advertise that supposedly allow you to “just wipe away” the hair. They picked up less than the vacuum attachment!
Currently, I use lint rollers. It takes almost a whole roller full of sheets to get my couch clear of all the hair each week. At this point, I’m considering buying stock as we also use the rollers to get the hair off of our clothes.
So help me out here, is there anything that will work better and faster than the lint rollers?? Let me know. If anyone can suggest something that absolutely blows my mind with how amazing it works, and be the first one to mention it, I’ll even send you a thank you gift!!!
And feel free to share stories of your own battles with this problem or related stories. There IS comfort in commiserating.
Sneezing and Wheezing,
Traci
Update: Someone suggested using a rubber tipped squeezie (I have no idea what it’s official name is – like the thing you wipe off the windshield washer fluid at the gas station). That works to get it all clumped up into piles so I’m using less lint rollers, however, it still takes a long time and effort to get it done.
EVEN BETTER UPDATE: Read my post I Tried It: Cleaning Hacks. Rubber gloves, like you use to wash dishes with, is the best thing ever!
