I gave myself a little challenge this week. With a budget of twenty dollars, I was to go to the local dollar stores and see how many items I could find to help organize my house.
At the 99 Cent Only store I found the following items plus a small hook rack.
I wanted to spray paint half of the adhesive hooks, so I went to the Dollar Store and bought some black spray paint. In addition to the hooks, I painted a red tub and a pink wire basket that I already owned. I also spray painted the hook rack.
The big black tub I set on the counter in my kitchen to store bags of chips. I used some of the adhesive hooks on the side of a black bookcase in my living room to hang the dog’s leash and spare keys.
Next the deep bins were used to organize under the kitchen sink and the laundry room shelf.
I decided to tackle my messy tea drawer using small trays.
Cleaning up the tea drawer freed up some tins and a ceramic vase. I used two of these to organize the top of the microwave.
The locker shelf helped to tidy up my pots and pans cabinet.
I used the purple tub to get my dry goods under control.
I only have a few scarves, not near enough to fill up that whole hanger, so I decided to put camisole on it as well. You could use this for belts, neckties or maybe even necklaces as well.
The stackable trays replaced shoe boxes that I used to use to organize the bathroom cabinets before.
Looking around the house I found some examples of how I’ve used previously purchased dollar store items to organize.
I’m so tickled with my new additions.
So I challenge you to see what you can come up with for twenty dollars. Or do you already have examples that you can share? You can post pictures on the Tea With Traci Facebook page. I would love to see them!
Now where’s the damn remote?
